PreAlgebra A takes 14 weeks (usually Fall term) to complete. After this course, students can register for PreAlgebra B, which takes about 20 weeks to finish (usually Winter/Spring term).

AOPS PreAlgebra A (Sept-December)
Prealgebra A includes a thorough exploration of the fundamentals of arithmetic, including fractions, exponents, and decimals. We introduce beginning topics in number theory and algebra, including common divisors and multiples, primes and prime factorizations, basic equations and inequalities, and ratios.
PreAlgebra B (January-June)
Prealgebra B includes percents, square roots, exploration of geometric tools and strategies, topics of discrete mathematics and statistics, and a discussion of general problem-solving strategies.
Prealgebra prepares students for the rigors of algebra and also teaches students problem-solving techniques to prepare them for prestigious middle school math contests such as MATHCOUNTS, MOEMS, and the AMC 8.
Textbook:
The text is structured to inspire the reader to explore and develop new ideas. Each section starts with problems, giving the student a chance to solve them without help before proceeding. The text then includes solutions and explanations to these problems. Important facts and powerful problem-solving approaches are highlighted throughout the text. In addition to the instructional material, the book contains well over 1000 problems.
